Taking anti depressants

Anti depressants are normally prescribed by doctors for those people who suffer from mild depression. Although the purpose of this can help those people who are depressed, they have side effects on the user’s body. There are different kinds of this medication. The side effects also differ depending on the medications. When you started experiencing a side effect due to medicines, it is best to discontinue the use of it. SSRI or Selective serotonin re uptake inhibitors is a type of medication. Widely known effects of this medication include nausea, diarrhea and headaches. It is also related to erectile problems.

Those people who are taking this has suicidal tendency especially for your people. TCA or Tricyclic Antidepressants is another type of depressants. The common side effects are skin rashes, sexual problems and unstable weight. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors also got severe side effects like liver inflammation, strokes and seizure. It can lead to heart reaction. Remember that before taking anti depressants make sure that it is recommended by doctors. Some can lead to death.

Causes of depression

Depression is one of the conditions that are constantly being studied. However it is still debatable about the real thing that can trigger this illness. It can be said that there is no single cause of this problem and it is still being studied by scientist. Before depression is believed to be caused thoughts that are troubling a person however today there are several causes of this condition.

Biological causes – This is due by brain chemicals like fluctuation of hormones. There are also imbalances in neurotransmitters that are responsible for brain communication. The transmitters are serotonin and norepinephrine. Deficiency in this may cause sleep problems, anxiety and irritability. If there is a decrease in amount of norepinephrine, it can contribute to fatigue and illness. There are also chemicals that is said to be altered in depressed people. Cortisol is one of them that produce stress, anger or fear. Usually cortisol is high in the morning and decrease throughout the day but in depress people it doesn’t level off.

Genetic causes – This is inherited from parents. If one or two of your parents have history of depression, it can be passed on to you. Scientists believe that it is a main contributor of the problem. There are genetic markers that can detect manic depression. This is seen in twin studies. However there are adopted children that have depression symptoms and this is mainly due to their biological parents. There are some that can adapt into depressive situation.

Environmental causes – It results from stressful situation like death and other emotional problems. Relationship breakups can lead to this therefore making people vulnerable.
